Denia-Costa Blanca - Spain

Widely known for Flamenco music, dance, bull-fights, fantastic beaches and lots of sunshine, Spain has to offer much more than that. It is - and has been for thousands of years - one of the cultural centres of Europe. It has beautiful cities and towns, offering really old monuments as well as futuristic architecture. Its various regions are all different one to each other, geographically, climatically and even in personality.

Dubbed The White Coast by the Ancient Greeks who visited here, the Costa Blanca is today one of Spain's principal tourist spots.Millions flock here every year for the radiant sunshine, white sand and exciting entertainment. There is so much more to the Costa Blanca than its tourist hotspots. Small, sandy coves, rugged hillsides and delightful, rural landscape, dotted with orange groves and sleepy Moorish villages.

The Costa Blanca is particularly suited to sailing and diving with leisure ports and marinas in all the towns along the coast. The Costa Blanca also boasts a number of fine golf courses, many with frontline golf residential properties available. For children there are three Safari Parks and two Water Parks. Something for everyone!

Denia is said to be named after the Roman temple of Diana (which was excavated here) and you can find a stone from this temple inlaid in the towns Renaissance facade. The town is situated at the foot of the majestic Montgó mountain between Valencia and Alicante. Denia is a delightful cosmopolitan town by the Mediterranean Sea, where the sun shines almost all year.

Its climate of soft temperatures and is made up of 20 kilometres of sandy beaches and rocky coves, Ideal for those who enjoy Yachting, fishing, windsurfing, diving or sailing. The town is dominated by the 'Castello', an old castle built by the troops during the siege of the Muslim town and then re-fortified during the War of Independence.

There are regular ferry trips from Denia to the island of Ibiza, which can often be seen on the horizon on clear days (Trips take only 2 hours).

The Nearest Airports to Denia are Valencia and Alicante each about 100 km away.
